One of Nike's most innovative Air silhouettes, the Nike Air VaporMax took the industry by storm when it landed in 2017. Designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary Air Max 1, the Nike Air Max VaporMax bridged the gap between performance and style to deliver a modern sneaker to newer sneaker fans. Made from over 39,000 components, the Air VaporMax sole is more complicated than a car engine. The first ever Nike VaporMax sneakers arrived in clean monochrome colourways and featured never-before-seen technology. The Air-infused sole is the first ever to have no intermediate parts, with the element touching the ground directly. This differs to the Air unit usually found in the Air Max 90 and Air Max 1, which is neatly tucked away in the midsole.
